AI dominates the list, as ChatGPT moves into the No 1 place, with other AI tools moving significantly up the list. Claude is the biggest climber – into 5th place (up 36 places) –  Gemini and NotebookLM are also in the Top 10.

AI is now permeating (and transforming) all areas of L&D – from making personal research and learning easier, to generating training content and courses quicker, easier and cheaper.

As a consequence, authoring tools are less prominent than in previous years, and learning management platforms even less so (e.g Moodle is down 34 places, Canvas down 7 places – only Google Classroom is holding its own).

In fact, many of the big heavy-weight tools are off this year’s list or have slipped down it.

  • Feedly has dropped off the list
  • Coursera is also off the list – in fact there are no online course libraries left on it
  • WordPress has dropped down to No 38 – a big difference from its heyday pre-2020 when it was consistently in the top 10.
  • LinkedIn and X are down 14 and 11 places respectively
  • Both Teams and Slack have also dropped down signficantly

It looks like it is “All Change!” as we move into the AI-powered L&D world.
