Screentoaster was a free web-based screencasting and screen-recording tool.  It allowed users to capture their desktop activity, record audio, add subtitles, and embed webcams directly from their internet browser in just one click.

Its underlying infrastructure relied heavily on Java and Adobe Flash. As web browsers began phasing out Flash and Java plug-ins due to security vulnerabilities, pure browser-based tools of that era found it difficult to survive without completely rebuilding their architecture.

Eventually ScreenToaster shut down its operations permanently.
